Opening information :: 

We offer dinner 10 months a year, from March. 

 Dinner will be offered: Wednesday through to Saturday indoors ( we do not offer outdoor dining) 

We close for our annual break from late December 2021 until the end of February 2022 

Food & Drink 

Menu:  We offer one menu for dinner with is our signature tasting menu. 

Dietary Requirements: We prepare the exact amount of food required for a nights dinner service so it is very important that you inform us at the time of booking of any dietary requirements. For example,  Shellfish, Lactose Intolerant, Coeliac, Nut Allergy, Vegetarian, Vegan to name but a few allergies / intolerances. Should you not inform us in advance of any dietary requirements, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate them on the night and guests will still be charged the full menu price. As we are a small kitchen, we cannot guarantee that dishes will not contain traces of allergens. 


We use the finest ingredients available to us and the best of what the season has to offer.


We offer a small curated wine menu. Non-alcoholic drink options are also available. (We do not offer beer or spirits.) 

We do offer a wine pairing to accompany our tasting menu. 

Restaurant Layout / Access

We are located on a hill and due to the nature of the building, there are quite a number of steps internally. We therefore would advise guests with limited mobility to get in touch with us directly, prior to a visit so that we can assist, where necessary & within our parameters, to make the visit more comfortable.   

Please note, two of our tables for four guests are located upstairs on our first floor which is accessed by staircase only.


We accept all Credit & Debit cards except American Express.

Please note in Ballydehob, there is currently one ATM which is located inside the Petrol Station. 


As we are a small  seater Restaurant, we unfortunately do not accommodate Children under 12 years of age.


Currently , a table for four guests is the largest table that we offer on a night that we are open for Dinner. Please note, we do join tables. 


It is advised that you make your own transport arrangements with a taxi provider in advance of dining with us. 

Terms & Conditions:

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Restaurant Chestnut. Please read the following Term's & Conditions carefully prior to completing your reservation with us:


We accept bookings online through our third party, Res Diary and also directly over the phone ( 028-25766). In both cases, Credit Card details are required to secure your booking with us. Only upon completion of your booking, a confirmation email will be  sent to you with a unique reference number, confirming your reservation. Credit Card details are held securely through a third party (Stripe). 

Waiting List: 

Should we not have availability on your desired date, you can contact us directly and we can add your name to our Waiting List and should a cancellation arise, we will be in touch. By being on our Waiting List , it does not guarantee you a table. 

Groups:  Currently, a table for four is the largest table that we offer on nights that we are open. Please note , we do not join tables. 

Cancellation policy: As we are a small 18 seater Restaurant with limited tables, it is most important that you inform us of any amendments to your booking well in advance of your visit with us. Dates can be rearranged, subject of course to availability, up to 72 hours in advance of your booking. Should you need to cancel your booking with us ( outside of 72 hours of arrival), you can do so through our Res Diary booking system.Please note:  A booking is only cancelled fully once you receive a cancellation confirmation email. 

Should you have to cancel your booking within  72 hours of arrival,  or a no show occurs, the full price of your dinner menu by the number of expected guests will be charged to your credit card.

Time: Please arrive on time for your reservation as social distancing is in place and as we are a very small kitchen team, the nights dinner service is coordinated with each guests arrival times. 

Menus: Our Signature Tasting Menu is offered all year round. 

Covid 19 : We will be implementing the necessary precautions and procedures within the restaurant and it is both our Team and Guests responsibility to adhere to them.

- Proof of vaccination is now a requirement for indoor dining. 

- Our Team will be wearing face masks during the nights Dinner service. 

-We kindly ask that our guests adhere to the social distancing guidelines that the government have in place. 

- We encourage the use of credit card payments where possible.

-Should you or any member of your party feel unwell prior to arriving for dinner, please remain at home and contact us directly as we would be happy to rearrange your reservation to an alternative date where possible. 

- Should you or any member of your party feel unwell during your evening with us, please inform a member of staff immediately. 

-We will keep the lead reservation name on our secure system, along with their contact number in the event of contact tracing.

- Guidelines regarding covid restrictions / requirements will be updated in line with Government announcements so please keep an eye on our website for updates. 


We have allocated specific times to each table and as before, we do not turn tables.

Tables are located 1.5- 2 metres apart -We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Restaurant Chestnut reserves the right to cancel bookings due to unforeseen circumstances that impact on our delivery of our standard of food & service.

When you use our Website: We may collect any Personal Information that you choose to send to us or provide to us, for example, in our online forms.  If you contact us through the Website, we will keep a record of the correspondence.

When you use our Services: We receive and store information you provide directly to us.  For example, when setting up a new service, we collect Personal Information, such as name and e-mail address, in order to initiate the service.  

The types of information we may collect directly from our customers  include: names,  email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers, job titles, transactional information (including Services purchased), as well as any other contact or other information they choose to provide to us or upload to our systems, or our support portal, in connection with the Services.

Information we automatically collect:

When you use our Website: When you visit our Website, we collect certain information related to your device, such as your device’s IP address, referring website, what pages your device visited, and the time that your device visited our Website.

When you use the Services: Restaurant Chestnut do not access any customer system data, content or personal information in relation to our hosted services unless such access has been clearly authorised by the customer in order to provide support and maintenance services. Audit trail reports will give you full visibility and record of any such access.

Contact details recorded when using our services

We will store contact details provided by you, such as name, email address and phone number of the main points of contact who have registered for the trial or purchase of any service and accepted our Terms and Conditions. We also store contact details for your appointed billing contact who will be sent system generated communications from our third party invoicing and payment partner, where required be contacted by a member of the Restaurant Chestnut team.

We keep contact information that is sent to us via our support portal for the purpose of providing support and maintenance operations.

How do we use the information?

Website: We will use the information we collect via our Website:

  • To administer our Website, our events, and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, statistical and survey purposes;
  • To improve our Website to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer;
  • To analyse customers’ use of the Website for trend monitoring, marketing, and advertising purposes;
  • For purposes made clear to you at the time you submit your information – for example, to fulfil your request for a demo, to provide you with access to one of our whitepapers or to provide you with information you have requested about our Services; and

  • To set up a user account/Take a booking.

Our retention period is 20 months.

How do we share and disclose information to third parties?

We do not rent or sell your Personal Information to anyone.  We may share and disclose information (including Personal Information) about our customers in the following limited circumstances:

Vendors, consultants and other service providers: We may share your information with third party vendors, consultants and other service providers who we employ to perform tasks on our behalf.  These companies include our payment processing providers, website analytics companies (e.g) CRM service providers and email service providers.

If Restaurant Chestnut has received your personal information and subsequently transfers that information to a third-party agent or service provider for processing, Restaurant Chestnut shall remain responsible for ensuring that such third-party agent or service provider processes your Personal Information to the standard required by the current data protection legislation applicable in Ireland.

We reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information as necessary to comply with a legitimate law or court order.

Is my personal information secure?

Restaurant Chestnut maintain current Epos regulations.  We use appropriate technical, organisational and administrative security measures to protect any information we hold in our records from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.  Unfortunately, no company or service can guarantee complete security.  Unauthorised entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors, may compromise the security of user information at any time.  Among other practices, your account is protected by a password for your privacy and security.  You must prevent unauthorised access to your account and Personal Information by selecting and protecting your password appropriately, and limiting access to your computer or device and browser by signing off after you have finished accessing your account.

Cookies and other tracking technologies

Our Websites and some of our Services use cookies and other similar tracking technologies to uniquely identify your browser and to gather information about how you interact with our Websites and Services.  We use this information for the following purposes:

  • Assisting you in navigation;

To receive our marketing communications, you will need to opt-in via the contact forms on our website and give your explicit consent.  We may however send you marketing communications regarding a product or service you have previously signed up to. You can opt-out of receiving promotional or marketing communications from us at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in the email communications we send.

If you have an account for our Services, we will still send you non-promotional communications, like service related emails.
